Hi everyone, I'm a 23 year old fangirl from le Canada. I'm just transferring from GR and I blog reviews on incompletetales.tumblr.com. I enjoy vast genres and am indeed a Hufflepuff, so don't be afraid to say hello :)
I picked up this book because people told me I’d really enjoy Austen novels, but I wasn’t too sure since most of what I read consists of fantasy. So when I saw this at the bookstore, I was bound to pick it up (then read 6 months after!). Wow. Can I say how kickass this book was! I don’t know how closely this book follows the original, but it sounds like most of it was with a bit of zombie heads thrown in. The amazing artwork helps elaborate the zombie filled era as well. If you’re not a fan of Austen. Read it. If you are a fan of Austen, you gotta pick it up just to refresh your love for her. And if you’re a beginner Austener (like moi) I guarantee a most enjoyable read. I admit I probably wouldn’t have found it so hilarious if it wasn’t for the outrageously random fight scenes. Fret not, it won’t take away from the plot, merely add amusement to some of the bland scenes. So this was a great intro to me to Austen books, I’d give this one a 4/5. I’ll be sure to pick up the original in the distant future.
Now the first thing I do after reading books is, well, Google. Yep I have to have more discussions or images or anything from books I hate or love. Just more! Lo and behold the Lizzie Bennet Diaries. The GREATEST thing in the history of YouTube for book fans. If you haven’t already heard about it, it’s an amazing modern retelling of the Pride and Prejudice book (with 1 little snide comment on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) and it’s bloody brilliant. They literally come to life with the video diaries, character tumblrs, character twitters, and facebook fanpages! I bet you Austen fans, you will begin to love Lydia Bennet from these vid-diaries (she, as well as Maria Lu, have their own vlogs). Hilarious, entertaining, and refreshing to both these adaptations of Pride and Prejudice!
